OBITUARY
MR WILLIAM JENKINS. The death occurred suddenly at Wanganui yesterday afternoon of a former well known and highly respected resident of Masterton in the person of Mr William Jenkins, who was born in Wanganui in 1880.
The late Mr, Jenkins came to Master ten from Hamilton many years ago and was in business in Queen Street for a considerable period, later removing to Wellington. From there he went to Wanganui where he had lived for the past eight years. He retired from business about three years ago and during that period had been secretary of the Wanganui Horticultural Society, rendering that institution invaluable service. He took a keen interest in Freemasonry and occupied a high position in several of its branches. He was secretary of the Wairarapa Royal Arch Chapter for several years, and during his term of office the Order made considerable progress under his able guidance. He was held in high esteem by his many friends in Masterton for his sterling personal qualities. He leaves a widow and three daughters (Mrs A. L. Paterson, Masterton; Sister Jean Jenkins, of the Wellington hospital staff, and Miss Margaret Jenkins, Wanganui), to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended.
