The brilliant ’chaser, Slayer, is making good progress under - Ashley Jenkins’s able care. Slayer will probably be given a race on the second day at Tauherenikau. For the South. Wee Bun will go south for the Champagne Stakes, and although The Champ has been accepted for at Tauherenikau present indications are that he will be going south, too. The chances of these two local horses are bright. To Be Spelled Soon. Olein and Home Rule will have an outing at Tauherenikau and will then be given a spelll For the Stud. Kentuckey has finished racing and will take up stud duties this season. Kentuckey was a versatile racer and won over sprints and distances. His best performances were his wins in the Pearce Handicap and the Great Easter Handicap. He also won over a mile at a Waikato meeting. Lang Bian Colt Named. The two-year-old Lang Bian colt for which Mr S. J. Newland paid a considerable sum for at the Trentham sales, has been named “Silvio.” The colt is a shapely fellow and should make good. Broken Down. Ruling Star, who scored a second at the Hastings meeting recently, has broken down and is not likely to race again. Riders for Tauherenikau. Riders engaged at Tauherenikau include:— A. S. Messervy.
