SOLDIERS’ PARCELS
BIG PACKING TASK NEARLY COMPLETED. DISTRICT’S QUARTERLY QUOTA. About 1600 soldiers’ parcels have been packed during the past week by members of the Masterton Women's Patriotic Committee. The work has been carried out in the-shop in Queen Street formerly occupied by Messrs Bullick Blackmore Ltd. In addition to Masterton's quarterly quota of 781, the quotas of several other centres in the Wairarapa district have been packed in Masterton on this occasion and this accounts for the large total. Today, Greytown ladies packed 150 parcels in Masterton. The Wairarapa district total is 2010 parcels. Donations made by the public totalled £4O and those who contributed 10s, the value of a parcel, were entitled to have their name included as the donor of the parcel. Many of the parcels still have to be packed into cases, which are sent here for assembly. In the latter task, valuable assistance has been given by pupils of the Wairarapa College and by two members of the U.S. Marine Corps.
