NEW REMEDY

FOR THE COMMON COLD. EXTRAORDINARY SUCCESS CLAIMED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) NEW YORK, April 17. Extraordinary success of a new cold remedy composed of sulfa drugs has been reported to the American Chemical Society Convention. Absenteeism due to the common cold has been reduced by 54 per cent in a Lockheed aircraft plant through use of a nasal spray consisting of three sulfa drugs, ephedrin, glycerine and other ingredients.

The new method, while not a specific cure, has proved effective in preventing colds and checking them at the start, thus materially shortening their duration. Wider adoption of the method is expected to add millions of man-hours to the industrial effort, since the cold is believed to be the chief cause of absenteeism.
