CONVICTS RECAPTURED
« AFTER ESCAPE FROM AMERICAN PRISON. (By Telegraph—(Press Association—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, April 17. Floyd Hamilton, who escaped from Alcatraz prison, was found today hiding in a cave on the island. All the four escapees have now been accounted for. One was killed and three recaptured. An earlier message said that Floyd Hamilton, bank robber, and one time “Public Enemy No. 1,” and two other long-term convicts, were believed to have been shot dead or drowned in an attempt to escape from Alcatraz prison. Hamilton and three other prisoners overpowered the guards and leapt into the bay.
