MEASURE OF SUCCESS

IN BOMBING OF LORIENT & ST. NAZAIRE STATEMENT BY BRITISH PRIME MINISTER. REPAIR & OTHER FACILITIES DAMAGED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) RUGBY, April 15. Replying to a question in the House of Commons as to whether he had evidence that the recent intensive bombing of Lorient and St. Nazaire had resulted in destruction or serious damage to submarine shelters, Mr Churchill said some damage had been done to the shelters but serious damage was not expected. The object of the attack was to cause dislocation to the repair, transport and power facilities afforded by those places to U-boats, and in those respects a considerable measure of success had been achieved.
