PIRINOA
y SHOOTING SEASON SCARCITY OF AMMUNITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Shooters in this district are finding it difficult to obtain ammunition for the opening of the shooting season. Some are even endeavouring to secure supplies from distant towns. It is almost certain that there will be fewer local guns operating on the opening day, but it is noticed that shooters who have not hitherto shot in this locality have had their shooting positions already marked out. Game is very plentiful and if present conditions prevail there should be some good shooting. The outlet of the lake is still open but if rough southerlies should set in between now and the opening day of the shooting season there is every probability that the outlet will close again. Personal Items. Mr Stan Thomas has returned to an air force station in the South Island. Private Noel Hume is visiting relatives at Pirinoa. Mrs J. Duggan Senr. will shortly enter a hospital to undergo an operation. The Rev. H. Taepa, of Masterton, conducted a Church of England service at Turanganui on Sunday. Mr D. S. Warren, a member of the Mounted Troop, who was kicked by a horse at Martinborough, has returned to his home. Mr and Mrs R. McDonald are visiting relatives in the Feilding district.
