AT MASTERTON CATTLE FAIR. DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS. The Associated Auctioneers report on their second autumn cattle fair, held at Master ton yesterday, as follows: A full yarding of cattle came forward and was offered to a large and representative attendance, buyers being present from the Manawatu, South Wairarapa, Bush and the Southern Taranaki districts. The majority of cattle yarded did not show the quality of those of our previous sales, and prices were easier on most lines from 10s to 15s per head, this being no doubt due to the extremely dry weather which is being experienced in this dis-, trict. Outside buyers purchased freely, • and a big proportion of the yarding fell to their bid. As at last fair the 3-J. -year steers yarded were short in supply, and these made from £8 3s to £8 12s 6d. 2|year steers of good quality made £7 10s, £7 15s to £8 3s, while 18-months steers, which in our opinion were neglected, showed the biggest decline in price, making from £5 ss, £5 10s to £6 ss. In the female cattle, good condition heifers, both in the 18-month and 2|-year sections, maintained values, while cows and calves and cows r.w.b. reflected the dry weather conditions, and being in just store condition were down in value and sold for cows and calves from £4, £5 to £5 Bs, cows r.w.b., £4, £4 6s to £4 10s. Fat cattle were in over-supply and the butchers operated with restricted limits, and prices were lower than at late sales. A total clearance was effected under the hammer, and the following list of our principal sales will indicate values: —
