WOMEN’S DIVISION MEETING AT PAHAUTEA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Pahautea branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Pahautea Hall recently, Mrs Ross presiding over a good attendance of members. Letters of appreciation were received from local soldiers overseas who had received Christmas parcels sent by the Division. It was decided to hold a euchre party and dance in aid of the branch funds. The competitions resulted as follows: —Best bloom: Mrs Farquhar, 1; Mrs Cade and Mrs Ross, 2. Best vase of weeds: Mrs Grant, 1. The hostesses were Mesdames Ness and Beattie. Personal Items. Sergeant-Pilot R. Sadler, who is home on furlough from service overseas, was extended a hearty welcome by members of the local Fire Brigade. Sergeant Pilot Sadler was secretary of the brigade at the time of his enlistment. Mr J. A. Halpin, of the local Post and Telegraph staff, is away on his annual leave. COSY THEATRE “HELLZAPOPPIN.” That “maelstrom of merriment,” “Hellzapoppin,” will be shown tonight with Olsen and Johnson and Mischa Auer in the leading roles.
