EKETAHUNA

RED CROSS SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING OF SUB-CENTRE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Eketahuna Sub-centre of the Red Cross Society was well attended, Mr M. Priest presiding. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: —-Patron, Mr F. White (re-elected); president, Mr M. Priest (re-elected); vice-presi-dents, Mesdames F. C. Turnor, W. Olsen and Mr L. C. Christie; secretary, Mrs D.. Scott (re-elected); treasurer, Mrs McAlister (re-elected); committee, Mesdames Waterreus, W. Anderson, Castledene, O’Brien, Murray-Aynsley, Bouzaid, Rasmussen, W.' Edwards, Misses C. Wilson and Dorset, and Dr. Simmers, and a representative for each country district. The report showed that a very successful year had been experienced. The membership was 85. First aid, home nursing and hygiene classes had been held in Eketahuna and the surrounding districts, and 18 V.A.D’s. from the district completed their hospital training. Forty-four and a half dozen articles, as well as pyjamas, pillow cases, bottle covers, hard towels, etc., made from material supplied from the Centre had been forwarded to Masterton. Sixtyfive dozen articles were completed for the Eketahuna emergency hospital and 5i dozen articles were given to Hastwells for their emergency hospital.
