BOWLING RINK GAMES. (“Times-Age” Special.).. Four rinks were occupied on the Carterton green on Saturday, when rinks games were played under Australian rules. The green was fast, and an enjoyable time was spent. Mesdames F. L. Barr and E. T. Beaven supervised afternoon tea and were accorded a vote of thanks. The following were the results:—Steven, W. Hart, King, Whyte (s) beat Irwin, Hawker, Stent, Barber (s), 66/61; Adams, Col son, Harris, Martin (s) beat E. H. Smith, Hill, Riggs, Hughan (s), 69/59; Beaven, Newbould, Johnston. Harp (s) beat McCarty, Kilmister, Bain, Barr (s), 68/58; Matson, Booth, G. Hart, Tucker (s) beat Clark, Foster, DeLacey, Sorensen (s), 80/49. THE REV. FATHER CONNOR FAREWELL GATHERING. After the service at St. Mary’s Church last evening the congregation adjourned to the hall adjacent when a farewell gathering was held' in connection with the departure of the Rev. Father Connor, who will leave Carterton shortly to take up duties in the Kilbirnie Parish. A short programme of vocal and musical items was rendered and much appreciated. The items were as follow: —Song, “Where the Bee Sucks,” Convent pupils; verse speaking, senior pupils; violin solo, Miss I. Fisher; verse speaking, “Woman versus Man,” Convent girls; duet, Misses Winnie and Maureen Hurley; song of farewell, Convent pupils; recitation, Miss Naida Jacobsen. At the conclusion of the programme,; Mr L. J. Loftus, on behalf of the parishioners, spoke in eulogistic terms of the work done by the Rev. Father Connor,. and made him a presentation. Mr Fred Curry and Father Dillon spoke in a similar strain. The Rev. Father Connor suitably. returned thanks. School Committee. The monthly meeting of the Carterton District High School Committee will be held tonight. Drop in Milk Supplies. The dry weather is seriously interfering ' with the supply of milk to dairy factories in South Waitarapa, there having been a substantial decrease in recent weeks. The season will probably close earlier than usual. It is probable that there will be a serious shortage of winter feed. On the eastern side of the Wairarapa Valley the country is in a worse 1 plight than on the Tararua side where rain has fallen in the hills. Personal. Miss Jean Cochrane, W.A.A.F., was the guest of Miss Daphne Sewell, Belvedere Street, for the weekend. REGENT THEATRE “TURNED OUT NICE AGAIN.” George Formby will be seen at his best tonight in the splendid comedy, “Turned Out Nice Again.” He is ably supported by Peggy Bryan.
