SERVICE CLUB EUCHRE PARTY LARGELY ATTENDED. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a very large attendance at the euchre warty held by the Service Club. The winners were: Mrs Mellish 1, Mrs Baker and Mrs Fairbrother, equal, 2. A competition was won by Mrs Mellish. Personal Items. Mr W. J. Viles (Apiti), Mr and Mrs W. F. Viles (Colyton), and Mr S. S. Viles (Cheltenham) are visiting Featherston. Mr E. Neil, a County Council employee. has been admitted to the Grey town Hospital, suffering from burns on the face, hands and arms as the result of the explosion of a drum of hot bitumen. Mr W. G. Davis, Wellington, is visiting his daughter, Mrs W. Feast. Women’s Division. At the first meeting of the year held by the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Brandon presided over a good attendance. Arrangements were made for the annual meeting to be held next month. Mrs D. H. Riddiford gave an interesting talk on recollections of the last war, and a comparison between the last war and the present one. On the motion of Mrs Quenton Donald she was accorded a vote of thanks. The hostesses were Mesdames Brandon and Feast. League of Mothers. A meeting of the League of Mothers was held yesterday afternoon in the Parish Hall, Mrs Arch. Clark presiding over a good attendance. Three new members were welcomed. The speaker was Mrs Leslie Wall, Dominion President, who spoke on the aims and objects of the League. The special aim this year, she said, should be for each member to bring along a new member, particularly young women whose husbands were in the fighting forces, and to endeavour to create a spirit of fellowship at meetings of
the League. Mrs Wall also spoke on the subject of “thoughts,” illustrating how our thought affected our lives, mentioning how our worried thoughts could be overcome by exercising sufficient willpower in the right direction. On the motion of Mrs W. Barton a vote of thanks was passed to the speaker. The hostesses were. Mesdames F. Bladen, J. Buck and F. Benton. COSY THEATRE ■ “FOUR MOTHERS.” Tonight’s excellent programme will be headed by the splendid drama “Four Mothers,” with the chief roles portrayed by the Lane Sisters, Gale Page and Jeffry Lynn. The associate, feature is the sensational drama, “Federal Bullets,” a story of the activities
