LEAGUE OF MOTHERS MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs R. H. Every extended a warm welcome to the large number of members who attended the monthly meeting of the League of Mothers, which was held in St Andrew’s Hall yesterday. The thought given by Mrs R. Brown was, “If there is any person to whom you feel dislike, that is the person of whom you ought never to speak.” Mrs A. P. Young outlined the procedure in connection with the proposal that the June meeting should take the form of a members’ meeting. Mrs H. Knutson agreed to act as president for this meeting, and a committee was formed to assist her. A solo by Mrs Ardrey, with Mrs F. G. Bath as accompaniste, was greatly enjoyed by members. An admission service was held, Mesdames Taylor and Taucher being enrolled. Mrs Every introduced Mrs A. P. Young, Provincial Treasurer of the League, who stressed the value of the wonderful' friendships it had been her privilege to make through the League, and the opportunities afforded her of meeting interesting, intellectual and deep-thinking women. The League stood for a true fellowship of mothers, whose duty it should be to help one another in every way possible in these difficult days. She expressed her admiration for the young wives who were left behind while their menfolk were overseas. League members should be ever ready to offer them their love and sympathy. With regard to adolescent daughters the speaker was of the opinion that it was necessary for mothers to adjust themselves to their daughters’ different outlook, while at the same time taking a definite stand as mothers. In conclusion Mrs Young emphasised the need of the League movement, and appealed to every member for loyal support in preparing for a better and happier world after the war. Mrs Every thanked Mrs Young for her helpful thoughts. BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES. On the Carterton green last evening Hughan beat Curtis in the singles, i 25/22.
