FEATHERSTON
OBITUARY MR C. W. RITCHIE (“Times-Age” Special.) A prominent citizen of Featherston, in the person of Mr Charles William Ritchie, J.P., died on Tuesday evening at the age of 63. Born in East Maitland, Australia, he arrived in New Zealand about thirty years ago aqd soon after entered the office of Mr J. W. Card as accountant, a position he continued with the firm of Messrs Card & Lawson up to the time of his death. Besides his office duties hre was auditor for the Automobile Association, Wairarapa, and the Mutual Insurance Company associated with that body, and also the Loyal Unity Lodge of Odd Fellows and acted in an honorary capacity for several local institutions. He was a worker on the Patriotic Committee and was a vestry man of St John’s Church. He was a Past Grand Steward of the Masonic Grand Lodge of New Zealand and for many years up to the time of his death was secretary of the St John’s Masonic Lodge. For over 20 years he supervised the outside staff arrangements for the Wairarapa Racing Club meetings. He leaves a widow and family of five, Mr J. B. Ritchie of the Police Force, Wellington; Lieut. Ossie Ritchie of the Australian military forces; Mr Erwin Ritchie of Kahutara; Mrs J. D. De Montalk of Lower Hutt, and Miss Lois Ritchie, of Featherston. COSY THEATRE “FOUR MOTHERS.” The outstanding drama, “Four Mothers,” will be shown tomorrow night, with the Lane Sisters and Jeffrey Lynn in the leading roles. The thrilling picture, “Federal Bullets,” is also on the programme.
