PATRIOTIC APPEAL SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the euchre party held in the Red Cross Society’s rooms' yesterday afternoon in connection with the patriotic appeal. The winner at cards was Mrs Watson, and a competition was won by Mrs Elliott. Donations were received from Mesdames N, Matthews and Feast. A successful bring and buy stall was held before the commencement of the euchre tournament. Bowling. In the championship rinks competition, W. Johnson, J. W. Card, W. Higgison and H. R. Bloxam won the final, beating J. Lepinski (sub.), B. Fuge, L. James and H. Rolls. Personal. Mrs Sim has returned from a holiday spent at Taupo. Parcels Appreciated. Miss Card has received letters of acknowledgment and thanks from the following for parcels sent overseas to local soldiers from the citizens of Featherston: —Sapper I. Rae, Private Billy Thompson, Lieut. E. A. Riddiford, Corporal P. R. Clark, Private C. Chalmers, Sergeant D. Wavel, Sergeant L. H. Burt, Sergeant Observer B. McKenzie, Sub-Lieut. J. S. Raper, Sapper W. L. Burt, Private K. Donald, Rev. J. T. Holland (chaplain), Lance-Corporal J. Viles, Lance-Corporal G. Shirkey and Corporal J. M. Browne. COSY THEATRE “THE SPOILERS.” A thrilling drama, “The Spoilers,” will be shown tomorrow night, the leading roles being taken by Marlene Dietrich, Randolph Scott and John Wayne. •
