DISCHARGED SOLDIERS

REHABILITATION COMMITTEE MEETING. POSITION IN THE WAIRARAPA. Reports of Wairarapa men who had been demobilised from the armed forces were presented to a meeting of the Wairarapa Rehabilitation Committee, held in Masterton last night. The chairman, Mr J. Robertson, M.P., presided over a full attendance of members. The secretary, Mr T. H. Crosbie, gave details regarding those discharged from the forces, which showed that 204 Europeans and three Maoris from the Wairarapa district had been demobilised. Of the Europeans, 104 men were discharged after serving overseas, and 97 from service in New Zealand, the other three being women. Altogether, 115 had resumed work and the balance were still receiving treatment, awaiting discharge, etc., though'22 had rejoined the armed forces. The efforts taken to place discharged men in employment were outlined by Mr Crosbie.
