EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE

REPAIRS TO W.F.C.A. LTD. BUILDING. ■ Good progress is being macle with the work of repairing earthquake damage to’-the W.F.C.A. Ltd. building, Masterton. Cracked brick walls on the northern and eastern sides of the building are being replaced above first floor level with asbestos sheets, while the existing walls up to the, first floor are being strengthened. The roof has been hipped back at both ends. Opportunity has also been taken to increase the accommodation for the furnishing department by extending portion of the rear wall eastwards. The repairs now being carried out arc of a permanent nature. The greater part of the damage was caused by the collapse of the water tower in the first heavy earthquake experienced last year, that on June 24 last.
