KNOX CHURCH
LADIES’ SOCIAL GUILD. NEW YEAR OF ACTIVITIES. The Knox Ladies’ Social Guild yesterday held its monthly meeting at the residence of Mrs W. A. Burling, Lansdowne. Mrs C. W. Kerry presided and welcomed the members to a new year of activities. Two new members were also welcomed. Apologies for absence were received from Mrs Montgomery and Mrs Heyder. A motion of sympathy was passed with Mrs Willoughby and the Misses McGregor in their bereavements. The secretary was instructed to write to Mrs Malmo, wishing her a speedy recovery from her illness. Mrs Esau offered to take charge of the arrangements for the harvest festival on Sunday, March 14. Mrs M"adden, Miss Burling and Mrs Morice are to help. It was reported that the arranging of flowers at the church until April 14 would be carried out by Mrs Madden and Miss Burling. The secretary (Mrs C. A. Pickering) was granted leave of absence, and Mrs C. W. Kerry was appointed acting-sec-retary. The executive of the Guild are to be the hostesses for the April meeting, and the programme will be arranged by pupils from Solway College. Afternoon tea was served, and a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Burling, Mrs Madden and Miss Burling for their hospitality.
