SCRIMGEOUR CASE
LABOUR MEMBER’S COMMENT. ACTIONS CONDEMNED. “I am wholly and solely on the side of Scrimgeour after reading the report of the appeal case, and I feel that he was not getting a fair deal,” declared Mr Schramm in the House of Representatives yesterday. “It appeared that the tribunal was being used to get rid of him.” The one thing that stood out in his mind was the action of the Crown representative who cross-examined Mr Scrimgeour. He had pried into appellant’s private affairs and his political beliefs. “A man who conducts a case like that should be got rid of by the department, and the sooner the better. I have no faith in a man like that and he should be dispensed with.” Mr Shramm condemned the action of putting policemen on duty at the ZB station during the incident. He also objected to the Minister of Broadcasting being appointed outside the House of Representatives; he ought to be there to answer questions.
