LIME PIT PROPOSAL

MEETING TO BE CALLED AT LANGDALE. With a view to giving ratepayers in the Uriti Riding full information regarding the proposed establishment of a lime pit at Abbotsford, the County Clerk, Mr J. C. D. Mackley, was instructed at yesterday afternoon’s meeting to call a public meeting in the Langdale Hall of the Masterton County Council. Councillor G. Moore, referring to the proposal, said that he had met with more “toughness” around the council table “from men who ought to know better” than when he went around his district obtaining signatures to a petition regarding the lime pit. Councillor J. W. Colquhoun said that Councillor Moore misunderstood councillors’ intentions. They were only trying to be helpful. Councillor Moore: “Save me from my friends.” In reply to the chairman, Mi’ R. E. Gordon Lee, who indicated that he would be present at the meeting, Councillor Moore said that any councillors would be welcome at the meeting provided they kept quiet. (Laughter).
