WOMEN’S INSTITUTE I MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Opaki Women’s Institute was held at Oaklea, Mrs Beetham presiding. Mrs Wingate was reappointed to represent the Institute on the Red Cross organisation.' Mrs Mannell showed a large and varied collection of goods, all most artistically finished, made from felt hats. Mrs Wilton told of early experiences, dealing with amusements and work in pioneer days. The annual meeting followed. The financial statement audited by Mr P. R. Welch, showed a satisfactory credit balance. The following officers were re-elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Beetham; vice-presidents, Mesdames Harris and Wingate; secretary-treasur-er, Miss Robinson; committee, _ Mesdames Buick, Harris, Malmo, Wingate, Wyeth, Rayner, Miss lorns. Points prizes won for the year were presented as follows: —Best bloom, Mrs Malmo. 1, Mrs Wyeth 2, Mrs Chesterman 3; cooking, Mrs Wyeth 1, Mrs Jaine 2; needlework, Mrs Wyeth 1, Mrs Mannell 2. Votes of thanks were passed to the officers for their services during the year. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs Wingate when the competitions will be: Best bloom, silk stocking mend, pot of jelly.
