WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING AT KAHUTARA (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Womens Institute was held in the Kahutara Hall yesterday afternoon, Mrs Hood being in the chair. Mesdames Elbe and Pope were appointed to attend the Wairarapa Federation meeting. Mrs Hood, Senr., was appointed delegate to attend the Dominion conference. Competitions resulted as follows: Mittens. Mrs Hewison 1, Mrs Welsh 2. Scones, Mrs Pope 1, Mrs Wilson 2. Bloom, Mrs Hewison 1, Mrs Pope 2. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows;—President, Mrs Hood; vice-presidents, Mesdames Elbe and Hewison; secretary, Mrs McKenna; treasurer, Mrs Duffy; committee, Mesdames Playle, Harland, Pope, Corlet; librarian, Miss Dimes; press correspondent, Mrs Pottinger. The winners of the competitions held during the year were: Bloom, Mrs Pope; competitions, Mrs Duffy and Mi’s Wilson (equal); most entries, Mesdames Duffy, Wilson and Pope. Mrs Hood presented the prizes. The hostesses were Mrs Duffy and Miss Denies. RED CROSS CENTRE ♦ . ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Feathers-i ton Sub-Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society will be held in the Parish Hall on Friday, March 19, at 2.30 p.m., at which the annual election of officers will take place and Mrs Goddard, wife of Air Commodore Goddard, will deliver an address. COSY THEATRE “MILLION DOLLAR BABY.” Tonight’s programme will be headed by the brilliant comedy, “Million Dollar Baby,” in which Priscilla Lane and Jeffrey Lynn take the leading roles.
