EGG FLOORS

OPERATION IN WAIRARAPA. ARRANGEMENTS OUTLINED. There was a poor attendance of retailers at a meeting in Masterton last night, at which an outline was given of the arrangements for conducting the Masterton and Carterton Egg Floors. Mr R. W. Kebbell, chairman of the Primary Production Council, presided. Mr R. H. Brewerton, chairman of the Egg Advisory Council, outlined the importance of directing all eggs through the various organised channels. He asked, as a war effort, that all concerned, from the producer to the consumer, should give their loyal support. Special mention was made of sales being made on producers ’farms. At present, he said, there was no control of that, but he asked all to be fair in the matter, so that there would be an equitable distribution of eggs. The following resolutions were passed: —“That the allocation for eggs to grocers based on sugar registrations and butter sales was fair and equitable.” “That the quota of eggs to each retail firm be made available at the egg floor.” “That the committee inquire from Wellington regarding their basis of rations to restaurants giving threecourse meals.” “That a vote of thanks.be passed to Messrs R. W. Kebbell and R. H. Brewerton for the information they had given and the amount of work they had put into the ration scheme.”
