SOLDIER GUEST — ENTERTAINED BY CITIZENS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Private Veron Doney was the guest of the citizens of Eketahuna at a gathering held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall. Mr G. R. Wakelin acted as M.C., and the music for the dancing was supplied by Miss Smith (piano), Mr A. Rowden (saxophone), and Mr Thompson (piano accordeon). Mr W. Olsen (Mayor) presented Pte. Doney with a well-filled wallet. The Mayoress handed cigarettes round to the soldiers pggsent in uniform. Miss M. Anderson,'president of the Borough Ladies’ Soldiers’ Comforts Committee, asked the guest of the evening to accept a parcel of woollen comforts. A shoulder spray of carnations and maidenhair fern was presented to Mrs Doney, who has had three of her sons in uniform entertained. The members of the Borough Ladies ’Soldiers’ Comforts Committee served the supper in their usual efficient manner. Miss June Hancock and Mr lan Shore won the Monte Carlo dance. Personal Items'. Mrs Gordon Kerr, Weber, has been visiting Mrs Kerr, Bridge Street. Mrs Tildesley and Mrs Pointon, Masterton, are the guests of Mrs E. Albrechtsen, Hastwell Street. Mrs Groves, Tawataia, is on a visit to the Marlborough Sounds.
