FEATHERSTON
FELLOWSHIP OF YOUTH SOCIAL GATHERING (“Times-Age”. Special.) The members of the Fellowship of Youth held a social gathering in the Parish Hall last night when a very enjoyable time was spent. Competitions, amusing games and dancing to music supplied by Miss C. Saba were held. Topical songs were given by a Chilton St James trio, elocutionary items by Miss Norma Benton, vocal solos by Misses Olwyn Clapshaw and Alma Cassidy, part singing by Misses Bernice Algie, Gwen and Yvonne Jury, Alma Cassidy, Olwyn Clapshaw and Dorothy Raper, and humorous songs by the Rev J. R. Higgs, all being very much enjoyed. Bowling. H. Rolls has won the singles championship of the Featherston Club, not having sustained a defeat. Miss Brenda Bloxam, Wellington, was a visitor to Featherston for the weekend. Card Party. The card party held in the Red Cross Society’s Rooms on Monday was well attended and much enjoyed. Mrs Muir and Mrs McKenna tied for the card prize. Competitions were won by Mrs Bladen and Miss Ngaire Elder. Donations were received from Meslames Wakely, McKenna and J. W. Holland. Vital Statistics. There were 5 births, no marriages and 3 deaths registered in Featherston in February. Rainfall. During February 5.04 inches of rain fell in Featherston. COSY THEATRE “REBECCA.” Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by .the sensational drama, “Rebecca,” which has drawn packed houses throughout the Dominion. The chief characters are portrayed by Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine, George Sanders and Judith Anderson.
