American Club.
All volunteer workers for the American Red Cross Club will be expected for duty on their respective shifts as from Saturday at 2 p.m. Marching Rehearsal. The three Masterton teams which are to compete at the big interhouse marching display at Wanganui on Saturday are to give a rehearsal at Masterton Park this evening, commencing at 7 o’clock. The Municipal Band will be in attendance. Pickle Vegetables. A demand that the Health Department be asked to investigate reports on the state of vegetables sent to Christchurch for pickle factories has been made by the executive committee of the Christchurch Consumers’ League after receiving information that cases of refuse vegetables have been sent from Wellington for local manufacture of pickles. Bad cucumbers, cauliflowers and tomatoes were mentioned as vegetables bought by factories. Medical Examination of Pupils. Expressing the hope that the step would presage the compulsory medical examination of school children throughout the Dominion, Mr G. J. McNaught, principal of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School, has asked the high schools’ board for permission to conduct medical examinations at the school. Some of the doctors at New Plymouth had expressed their willingness to assist with the scheme, said Mr McNaught, and he wished to accept the generous offer and make arrangements for the examinations,
