BOWLING GAME AGAINST HAWERA. >. .(“Times-Age” Special.) During the weekend a team of Hawera bowlers played a game against Carterton. Carterton proved victorious by 27 to 14. The players were: — Carterton: Newbould, Colson, Barr, Sorensen (s). Hawera: Beamish, Irwin, Bealey, Squire (s). The inclemept weather conditions both at Carterton and Palmerston North early on Sunday morning prevented the Palmerston North team from travelling to Carterton. The match between the teams will be played at the weekend'. In a progressive pairs match, Pankhurs't and Sorensen (s) beat Daysh and Hawker (s), 34/23. < The holders of the DeLacey Buttons, Newbould and McCarty (s) defeated Clark and Kilmister (s), 20/14, in a challenge match. OBITUARY MR F. WADHAM.. The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital last night of Mr F. Wadham, a very oid and highly respected resident of the Carterton district, where he had been a successful farmer for a number of years. Of a quiet, retiring nature he made many friends. He was born in Carterton and had resided in the district practically all his life. At one time he was a valued member of the Clareville School Committee and belonged to the Foresters’ Lodge. A grown-up family is left to mourn their loss. They are: Messrs Randal (Pukeatu), Alan (Wellington), Kay (Wellington), Gavin (West Taratahi), Don (Chester Road, Clareville), Mesdames Joseph (Wellington), Harris (Fordell), and Frewin (Wellington). The funeral will leave his late residence, Chester Road, Clareville, tomorrow at 1.30 p.m. Members of the Foresters’ Lodge are asked to attend the funeral. ORDER OF DRUIDS TOTARA LODGE MEETING. The quarterly summoned meeting of the Totara Lodge No. 3, U.A.0.D., was held last night, Arch. Druid Bro. H. J. Bassett, presiding. Bro. F. H. Hill, who is on active service overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F., wrote acknowledging receipt of Christmas parcel sent by the lodge. Bro. Hill gave an interesting and humorous account of the life, and the country in which he is at present located. The installation of District President will take place in the Totara Lodge room on March 22. All lodges in the No. 1 district will be Invited to attend the ceremony. ■ Bro. G. Bain, who is on military service, and is at present on leave, was present and was welcomed by the Arch. Druid. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £lO3 6s 5d were passed for payment. Grand Lodge forwarded contributions for members of the lodge on active service. W.W.S.A. Bicycle Corps, Members of the W.W.S.A. Bicycle Corps, Carterton, are requested to assemble at the State Theatre on Thursday, February 25, at 6.45 p.m. Patriotic Concert and Dance. The Carterton Maori Tribal Committee, with the assistance of the Greytown Maori Concert Party, will hold a Patriotic concert and dance in. the State Theatre, Carterton, on Saturday next. The proceeds will go towards the forthcoming patriotic effort. The Maori people are noted for the excellent quality of their concerts. REGENT THEATRE “DR. KILDARE’S CRISIS.” i A thrilling picture, “Dr. Kildare’s Crisis,” will be shown tonight. Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore and Laraine Day have the leading roles.
