TWO MEN DROWNED. TRAGEDY OFF RAGLAN. x _— (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. This Day. Washed out to sea at Raglan on Sunday, two men, Mr Trevor Hedges, aged 29, Queen’s Avenue, Frankton, and Mr Morris McCarthy, aged 50, Auckland, are presumed to have been drowned. Portions of the rowing boat in which they were fishing were found early yesterday morning washed up on the shore of Ocean Beach about two miles from Raglan. The men on Sunday borrowed a boat from Mr Alfred Carr, Raglan, and were last seen near the Raglan bar. A high spring tide was running and it is presumed that the boat was carried out to sea in the strong rip tide. Though an intensive search was carried out throughout the night and early yesterday morning no trace of the men was found.
