FEATHERSTON
TOWN HALL DANCE A LARGE ATTENDANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the weekly dance held in the Town Hall on Saturday night. Mrs V. J. Ashton’s dance band supplied the music. Mr Ashton made a capable M.C. Extras were played by Misses G. Fraser and C. Saba. Novelty dances were won- by Miss N. Cade and A. Weatherston and I. Thurston and B. Chisham, and a competition by G. Bicknell. The supperroom and stage was beautifully decorated by Miss J. Tutbury. Supper was served by the Junior Dance Committee. Personal Items. ” The funeral of the late Mr A. W. Edwards took place at the Featherston Cemetery yesterday. The Rev. H. Bloomfield officiated at the services at the Presbyterian Church and at the graveside. The pall-bearers were: Messrs F. W. Smith, J. Turnbull, F. Moore, J. Drew, J. Anderson and Chaston. The late Mr Edwards, who had been in business here for the past 26 years, is survived by his widow. Mrs J. Anderson has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs Heron, Christchurch. The Rev. J. R. Higgs left today for Palmerston North to attend the Clergy Conference there this week. Sports Festival. On Saturday the first annual sports festival of the St. John’s Junior and Kindergarten sections was held in the Recreation grounds, when there was a large attendance of children, parents and teachers. Races and games were held and afternoon tea provided. The festival was continued on Sunday with a special family service held in the morning at which the badges won during the past year were presented by the Rev. J. R. Higgs. Special hymns were sung by various groups of children. COSY THEATRE “NO GREATER SIN.” A thrilling drama dealing with a delicate social subject, will be shown on Wednesday night, “No Greater Sin. The principal players in the picture are Leon Ames, Guy Usher, Bodil Rosing, John Gallandel and Luana Waters.
