FINAL GALLOPS AT OPAKI. MARRED BY RAIN THIS MORNING. Teeming rain this morning marred the final gallops at the Opaki racecourse before the Woodville meeting on Saturday. From T. R. George’s stable Olein, Gamble and Kentucky leave for Woodville on Saturday morning. W. F. Ellis will ride Olein and Kentucky. Gamble has been, entered in the Highweight Handicap and the last race on the card. No decision has yet been made as to which race Gamble will start in. If Gamble starts in the last race A. Jenkins will have the mount, but if a suitable rider is found he will start in the Highweight event. Ashley Jenkins’s stable will be represented by Cheerful Lady, Gay Fox and a maiden. On recent Otaki form Olein and Gamble are the only ones that appear to warram public favour. The Lian Baing chestnut which was purchased at the Trentham yearling sales by Mr S. J. Newland, has been ridden. The verdict is that it is a nice little horse.
