LANSDOWNE SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. RESUMPTION OF MILK SCHEME URGED. The monthly meeting of the Lansdowne School Committee was held last evening, Mr A. V. Faulknor presiding. There were also present: Messrs MacKay, Donovan, McGregor, Baker, Long, Dagg, Jarvis and the headmaster, Mr J. W. T. Jones. Accounts amounting to £4 18s 7d were passed. The headmaster reported that the school had opened with a roll of 253. The grounds had received regular attention during the recess and were in excellent order. Arrangements had been made to hold a Physical Education Week from March 1 to March 5. On Wednesday, March 3, a display would be given by the pupils in the school grounds. Parents were cordially invited to attend. A combined schools display would be held in the Park on March 4.
The following was the text of a letter received from the -Dominion Headquarters of the Junior Red Cross: “Thank you very much for the wonderful parcel of clothing sent in to this office before Christmas from yoUr circle. The articles were very well made and have been passed on to the children concerned. This will be mentioned in the March issue of the magazine, and is much appreciated.” The supply of apples for pupils, it was stated, was to be resumed early next month. The question of milk in schools was discussed, and it was resolved that an endeavour should be made to have this health measure reinstated.
