OBITUARY

MISS JANET McGREGOR. The death occurred yesterday of Miss Janet McGregor, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs James McGregor, formerly well-known and highly respected residents of the Wairarapa. The late Miss McGregor, who was born in Masterton 69 years .ago, was a well-known member of the nursing profession. She received her early training at Wellington Hospital, first taking up duty there in 1900. For a pgriod she was a sister in a private hospital in Auckland, and in 1906 was appointed matron of Waihi Hospital. Miss McGregor visited England in 1913 and on her. return to New Zealand the following year she took up the position of matron of the Riverton • Hospital, Southland, where she remained until her retirement in 1929. Since then she had resided at “Balquidder,” Upper Plain. She was a member of the Wairarapa branch of the Trained Nurses' Association.

The late Miss McGregor is survived by three brothers, Messrs Duncan (Gladstone), James (Wangaehu) and William McGregor (Westmere), and two sisters, Misses Lois and Martha McGregor, Upper Plain. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to the bereaved relatives.

The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the McGregor Hall, Knox Church, following a service at 2 o’clock for the Masterton Cemetery.
