MEETING HELD YESTERDAY. ARRANGEMENTS FOR ANNUAL APPEAL. A meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: Mesdames Caselberg (in the chair), S. L. P. Free, E. J. Norman, N. Irwin, J. C. Broad, J. James, H. H. Daniell, T. C. Richardson, E. J. Heffer, A. F. Stewart, A. H. Falloon, H. R. Keltie, lan Bunny, T. Jordan, P. Nathan, C. A. Carmine, Kemble Welch, D. Donald. R. Miller and Miss B. Kummer Apologies for absence were received from Mesdamcs Gordon and Drummond. A circular was received from headquarters notifying branches of the rise ■'in the price of Karitane products.
Mrs Irwin, hon. treasurer, was appointed a trustee of the Masterton Plunket Post Office funds, in place of Mrs O’Connor. '
Arrangements were made to hold the annual house-to-house appeal on Monday, February 22. It was reported that the Dominion Council had arranged for a supply of oranges to be sent to the Plunket branches throughout New Zealand. Eighteen cases had been received here and sold to mothers at a moderate price. St. Matthew’s School pupils were thanked for a gift of infants’ handmade clothing, Mrs Vowell for a cot, and Mrs C. A. Cameron for knitted jackets. The nurses’ reports for December and January were as follows: —December. —Masterton: Visits to office (town), adults 382, babies 351, pre-school children 68, casuals 27; visits to homes (town), new cases 64, old cases 90; preschool children seen in homes, 14; new cases for month, 16; pre-natal section, return 'visits, 5. Tinui Sub-Branch: Taueru, Blairlogie, Whareama, Langdale, Tintii, 2 visits each; Whakataki, Castlepoint, 1 visit each; new cases, 1; visits to old cases, 24. Mauriceville Sub-Branch: Kopuaranga, Mauriceville East and West, 2 visits; Mangamahoe, Ihuraua Valley, 1 visit; visits to homes, 20; pre-school children seen in homes (country), 9. January.—Masterton: Visits to office (town), adults 470, babies 457, pre-school children 40, casuals 27; visits to homes (town), new cases 33, old cases 14; pre-school children seen in homes (town), 20; new cases for month, 23; pre-natal section, new cases, 2.
