STATE THEATRE
'I « “GENTLEMAN AFTER DARK.” fl “Gentleman After Dark,” will be fink ally shown tonight. “KITTY FOYLE.” One of the most interesting pictures ” brought to the screen in recent years is the drama; “Kitty Foyle,” the plot of which provides an excellent bill of fare. Frequently motion pictures enV deavour to make a famous fictional t character come to life on the screen. Rarely are such endeavours as successful as they are in R.K.O. Radio’s sumptuous production of “Kitty Foyle,” which will be shown tomorrow night, ’ with Ginger Rogers doing a scintillant job of creating Christopher Morley’s salty “white collar girl” in the cinematic flesh, and with a fine cast, story and direction. As the, many readers of Morley’s widely-discussed novel will recall, Kitty is a forthright, spirited Irish girl from Philadelphia who sets out to carve herself a career as a business woman, after her hectic romance with a well-meaning but weak young socialite proves something of a failure. Dennis Morgan gives excellent support to Miss Rogers as the socialite, and the new “find,” James Craig, proves himself valuable as the faithful young doctor. Ernest Cossart, Eduardo Ciannelli, Gladys Cooper and other well-known players do exceptional work.
