WEEKEND BOWLING PAIRS COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a full green at the weekend when a pairs competition was held. P. Kenning won the skips section and H. R. Feast the leads, each winning four games. Other results were: Skips, 3 wins, J. Kiernan, A. Thompson, R. Thompson, W. Higgison, F. Harrington; 2 wins, J. Stringfellow. H. Wallace, C. Larsen. Leads: 3 wins, J/ Burden, J F. Thompson; 2 wins, F. Dewhirst, J. Reid, H. McPhee, J. Coleman, E. Maddison, G. Johns, A. G. Peterson. In the Campbell Cup, Dennes beat R. Thompson. This leaves Dennes and McLeod to play off. McLeod still has two “lives.”

Euchre Party and Dance. The Papawai Maori Committee will hold a euchre party and dance in the Grey town Town Hall on Wednesday, January 20. Mrs Ashton’s Orchestra will provide the music and special prizes will be offered for a statue waltz and a Monte Carlo dance. TOWN HALL “49th PARALLEL.”Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the great adventure picture with a spectacular background, “49th Parallel,” in which the leading roles are taken by Leslie Howard, Laurence Olivier, Anton Walbrook and Raymond Massey.
