ALFREDTON
PATRIOTIC SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Patriotic Society held another very successful euchre party on Saturday evening. The winners were: Ladies, Miss Hare. Mrs Algie and Mrs Seymour, equal; men, Mr R. Seymour. The ladies’ aggregate was won by Miss Hare, the prize being presented by Mr O. Walker. The men’s aggregate went to Mr T. Smith, the prize for which was presented by Mrs Yarrell. The ladies’ consolation prize was won by Mrs Walker (prize presented by Mr C. Algie). Mr E. Seymour won the men’s consolation prize. In a competition a 10s order realised £2 16s, and was won by Mrs Yarrell. Another competition realised £1 9s 6d, and was won by Miss J. McDonald. Flowers donated by Mrs G. Napier were sold by auction and brought 2s 6d. Raspberries donated by Mr C. Leach realised 9s 6d. A donation of £1 was received from Mr- R. Kebbell. The hostesses were Mesdames Smith, Hull and Algie. Personal. Miss Napier, of Masterton, is the guest of Mrs G. Napier. Mrs L. Barker has* returned to Eastbourne after having been the guest of Mrs R. Low. Mrs Diekbury, of Pahiatua, is visiting her daughter, Mrs Nelson. Misses E. and S. Edmonds are the guests of their aunt, Mrs Algie, Saunders Road. Mr A. Hull is spending a few days in Gladstone. Mr and Mrs Hull will leave this week to spend a holiday in Napier. Mrs A. Lessels returned to Nelson on Saturday. Miss M. Boustead, of Nelson, is visiting her sister,' Mrs L. Cooper.
