ALFREDTON
SETTLER’S DEATH MR M. M. GODINAGH. (“Times-Age” Special.) The death occurred on Friday last of Mr Matthew Martin Godinagh. Mr Godinagh was born in Hokitika in 1875 and came to the North Island at the age of 15 years with his parents and settled in Alfredton. He was a very keen sportsman and was a member of the Alfredton Rifle Club, tennis and cricket clubs. In his young days he was a noted footballer. He is survived by his wife and six children —Mrs D. Smith (Woodville), Mrs Webster (Dannevirke), Misses Marjorie and Dorothy (Alfredton), Kenneth (Takapau), Gilbert and Ted (Alfredton). The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon. There were many beautiful wreaths, including one from the Alfredton Rifle Club. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs H. Percy, Fred Koce, R. Low, W. Walker, Don Smith, D. Webster. Personal Items. Mrs Hall, of Featherston, is the guest of Mrs J. Hartley. Mrs Hodgkinson, of Wellington, is visiting Mrs J. Williams. Mrs A. Lessels, of Nelson, is visiting her father, Mr H. Rolls. Pte. J. Rolls, of the W.A.A.C., is the guest of Mr H. Rolls. Mrs Walker, of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. Brannigan. Miss Zoe Smith, of the Post Office staff, Pongaroa, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. Smith. Misses K. and M. Smith spent the holidays in Palmerston North. Miss S. Edmonds, of the Wellington Post Office staff, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs S. Edmonds.
