DEMANDS ON ITALY
DISCUSSED BY HITLER , AND CIANO. (By Telegraph—Press’ Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 22. The amount of help Germany could spare Italy was the most important point discussed when Herr Hitler met Count Ciano, informed diplomatic circles at Berne declare. The heavy requirements of the German army on other fronts and the fact that the Italians could hardly be withdrawn from the eastern front during the present Russian .offensive, were majoi’ problems discussed. Observers emphasise that spectacular results are not to be expected from the meeting. Hitler received Laval for only 20. minutes, and the impression is reported to prevail in Berlin that Laval was again told that he must advanceconcrete proposaus for improving his collaboration, and also that the bad impression created by Marshal Petain’s letter still remained. The German-controlled Paris radio announced tonight that French boys of 16 are being sent to work in German factories. They have to undergo a three-months’ training course, and are being sent to the Reich in groups of 50.
