WEDDING

SHIVNAN—WICKENS A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated on Saturday afternoon at St Patrick’s Church, Masterton, by the Rev Father Gilhooly, the contracting parties being Noelene Isabel!, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Eric Wickens, and John Aran, eldest son of the late Mrs H. Jackson, of Auckland. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a pretty frock and hat of cornflour blue with black accessories. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations, polyanthus roses, with touches of blue hydrangeas and maidenhair fern, and wore a shoulder spray to match. The bride was attended as bridesmaid by her sister, Miss Melva Wickens, who wore a pretty frock and halo hat of light fuchsia with black accessories and carried a lovely bouquet of charm dahlias, rosebuds and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were capably carried out by Mr Roy Burgess, of Masterton. Mrs A. R. Bunny presided at the organ. After the ceremony a few relatives and intimate friends were entertained at a reception at the home of the bride’s parents. Mrs Wickens wore a black tailored costume relieved with white, and a black felt hat with a shoulder spray of dark red carnations. Later when Mr and Mrs Shivnan left for the north, the bride wore a smart tan, green and fawn check costume, with gold jumper and black accessories.
