HIBERNIAN LODGE

CHRISTMAS PARTY CHILDREN ENTERTAINED LAST NIGHT. ENJOYABLE GATHERING. The annual Christmas tree and children’s party was held last night in St Patrick's Hall by the local Hibernian Lodge. There was a record attendance of parents, friends and children and the gathering was probably the most successful yet held by the lodge. The arrival of Father Christmas was greeted with rounds of cheers by the children, who each received a present from a gaily decorated and well stocked Christmas tree. He subsequently made presentations to various members of the audience and officials of the lodge, which brought forth hearty laughter and rounds of applause. The handing out of sweets by Father Christmas and the entertainment of the children and the adults at supper followed. Mr J. Hunter, on behalf of those present, thanked Father Christmas for once again visiting them. Those who were responsible for the enjoyable gathering were Sisters Joan Gleeson (president), Joyce Cross (past-president), Bros. Ralph Gleeson (vice-president), J. Curry (secretary), W. Brady, W. McArley, Gibb Marsh and Patrick Gleeson, who had the assistance of a number of supporters of the lodge.
