WEST SIDE SCHOOL
0 CONCERT AND DEMONSTRATION. YESTERDAY’S PROGRAMME. The Victoria Street school, now domiciled in the Methodist Primary School halls, held its annual concert and demonstration yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of parents and friends, who applauded the items with enthusiasm. The handwork of Standard II was particularly commendable. The concert programme which contained individual items, choruses, and verse speaking was of a high standard. Bouquets were presented to Mrs Farrell, Miss Hogg and Miss Sellar. ’ Mr Farrell, the headmaster, in addressing the parents, spoke of the handicap suffered by the school since the earthquake, and expressed the sincere hope that in the New Year the Te Ore Ore School would-be again in commission, thus permitting the side school children to return to its own building. A representative of the Parents’ Association said it was very necessary for the children to return to their own school, owing to the lack of playing ground and suitable shade during the corning hot weather.
