The opening words reproduce the appeal of a German poster, but the continuation of the French poster is slightly different. “There you will forge the chains of France,” the poster adds. “You will leave your family alone and unprotected in face of Vichy. You will be able to send home nothing, for the cost of living is high in Germany. You will risk condemnation to death for sabotage in the factory where you are going. You will stand in the place of a Nazi under the Allied bombs. You will be a convenient hostage for Hitler. And during this time. Laval, freed from the haunting thoughts of barricades put up by the workers, holding your families at his mercy, will do his best by famine and through his police to draw France and your children into final slavery, for the profit of his Nazi master by v/hom he is paid.”
