CARTERTON

ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. | ("Times-Age” Special.) The last meeting of the financial year of the Loyal Heart of Oak- Lodge of Odd Fellows was held last evening, P.G. Sister Mitchell presiding over a fair attendance of members. Sick pay totalling £7 3s 4d was ordered to be paid. Bro W. B. Campin wrote thanking the Lodge for its letter of sympathy in connection with - his recent misfortune. Bro P. F. Foot, district secretary, wrote stating that the next meeting of the Wellington District Management Committee would be held on Saturday. The lodge’s quinquennial valuation was forwarded by the district secretary showing a surplus of £993, the lodge being in a very sound position financially. It was decided that a letter of sympathy be forwarded to P.G. Bro L. H. Smart. One candidate was proposed for initiation into the lodge. The following officers were elected for the ensuing six months: N.G., P.G. Bro J. A. T. Stevens; V.G., P.G. Bro W. McPherson; E.S., Sister C. George. It was decided to hold a social gathering on the occasion of the next lodge meeting when the officers would be installed.

BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. A commencement has been made with the competitions of the local bowling club and competitors are asked to note the closing time for the first round. Games so far played are as under: —Singles (two lives): Sorensen beat Foss, 24/15; Stent l?eat Whyte, 19/13; Newbould beat Martin, 21/14; G. W. Hart beat Adams, 22/16. Pairs (2 lives): Pankhurst and Barr (s) beat Colson and Riggs (s), 28/16. Lamb and Calf Judging. Final arrangements will be made on Friday next for the annual fixture of the Carterton Group of the Boys and Girls’ Calf Club on Saturday, December 5, when the judging of all the winning calves in connection with the various schools in and around Carterton will take place. The competitions will take place on the Holloway Street school grounds. Personal Items. Mrs and Miss Bedford left Carterton today on route for Auckland where they will make their home.
