SERVICE CLUB EUCHRE PARTY WINNERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a fair attendance at the Service Club’s euchre party on Tuesday night. The winners were: —Mr Cassidy, 1; Mrs Watson, 2. Mr N. Burt was the winner of the mystery envelope. GIRL GUIDES ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the Feather-ston-Martinborough district Girl Guide Group states that owing to changes of Guiders in the district the work had been interrupted and difficult. Regarding the Featherston company tribute was paid to the work of Miss Bloxham and her successor, Mrs Muscroft Taylor. The importance of outdoor activities was stressed. In the company there were 5 patrols .Activities included assistance in the Trefoil Hutt Appeal, gardening, cleaning cars, cutting grass, cleaning silver and scrubbing floors. Savings from those jobs and a shop day, totalled Two hundred and sixty pounds of rags had been collected for the Air Force, 29 camouflage nets had been made and three-quarters of a sack of rose hips had been gathered. Referring to the Martinborough company the report said that it had also worked hard for the Trefoil Hut appeal. A total of £25 was raised. Although the war had taken guiders to other spheres of work it had provided more work fpr them. It was stated that the Guides in Kahutara and Pahautea districts were always keen to assist in any activity. Thanks were expressed to all wno had assisted the movement in any way.
Personal. Mrs Clapshaw. left yesterday for Greytown where she will join the relieving nursing staff at the hospital. COSY THEATRE “CASH AND CARRY.” Tomorrow night there will be presented another of the noted Maisie series of pictures, “Cash and Carry,’ with Ann Sothern as Maisie and Geo. Murphy and Robert Stirling in strong roles. It is one of the most laughable pictures ever brought to the screen. Another feature will be “Cadets on Parade.”
