WEDDING GREEN—FINLAYSON (“Times-Age” Special.) A wedding of considerable interest to residents of Christchurch and Wairarapa took place recently at Linwood Baptist Church, Christchurch, the contracting parties being Joan Rita, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Finlayson, and Stanley William John, second son of Mr and Mrs Stan. Green, Levin (late of Carterton). The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a slimfitting gown of ivory white satin, trimmed with buttons. The gown was made with a long train and a beautiful veil arranged in halo fashion was worn. A double string of Ciro pearls (the gift of the bridegroom) and a bouquet of white roses, lily of the valley and maiden-hair fern completed the toilet. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Thelma Turnbull (Christchurch) wore a picturesque frock of sky blue net. Her bouquet consisted of pale pink and dark pink roses with maiden-hair fern. She wore a shoulder length tulle veil decorated with pink carnations. Miss Shirley Finlayson, sister of the bride, was dressed in a rose pink net frock, and her bouquet was of light and dark pink roses and maiden-hair fern. She also wore a tulle veil decorated with pink carnations. They both wore gold lockets and carried gold compact cases, the gift of the bridegroom. _ The best man was Mr Elwyn Finlayson and Mr Noel Simpson carried out the duties of groomsman. On leaving the church the bride was presented with a horseshoe by Master Roy Finlayson. After the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained a. the Quality Inn, being received by the bride's mother, Mrs Alec Finlayson, who was attired in a navy and white ensemble. Mrs J. Mcßeth, who acted for the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs Green, was dressed in a Marina blue ensemble. They both wore sprays of white roses and maiden hair fern. The usual toasts were honoured. For travelling Mrs S. Green, Junr., chose a charming ensemble of navy and white, with accessories to tone. Mr and Mrs Green’s future home will be in Carterton. WAR SERVICE MEETING OF AUXILIARY. A meeting of the Carterton District Committee of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary was held in the Borough Council Chambers, there, being present Mesdames H. E. Ordish (in the chair), W. H. Hall, Miss O. W. Wolters and Mrs F. L. Barr. . An apol-’j ogy for absence was received from Mrs A. F. Park. It was announced that the various women’s organisations in the Carterton district were still supplying free suppers on Sunday evenings to the soldiers. , . The president reported that during :he last few months several members of the Carterton W.W.S.A. had received appointments with the armed forces. The’president advised that twine for the making of camouflage nets had come to hand, that Mrs Stubbs had given the auxiliary the use of her shop in High Street, and that a member of this organisation would be in attendance there every Friday. The hope was expressed that willing workers would make every effort to assist with this essential work. , It was reported that notification haci been received from headquarters that uniforms could now be supplied to members of the auxiliary. Wool for Wellington. Large quantities of wool from East Coast sheep runs continue to be brought into the Carterton railway station for shipment to the wool stores in Wellington.
