TRIBAL COMMITTEE AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) At an enthusiastic meeting of the local Tribal Committee there was a most satisfactory attendance. Several additions were made to the personnel of the committee. The secretary outlined the functions of the committee and several of those present urged all to do their utmost to help in the Maori effort. Reference was made to the assistance and advice given to various committees in the matter of vegetable production by Mr Ben Roberts, M.P. Mr M. Herangi and the secretary (Mr J. Carter) were appointed members to represent the committee on the Tribal Executive Committee. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs O’Brien entertained a number of friends recently, in honour Of their son, Pte. Don O’Brien, who was home on leave. Music and vocal items helped to make the gatheung a most enjoyable one. 1 Flight-Rigger G. Ahipene spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs SciuncieTS 1 Miss Patuaka, Ohau, has been visiting friends in this district. Mrs O’Hara, Tinui, was the guest of Mrs O’Brien for a few days. Maori War Effort. The Maoris of the district intend to hold a gathering within the next fortnight for the purpose of raising funds in connection with the Maori wai effort. Successful Dance. The dance held by the bachelors ana spinsters was most successful and enjoyable, the local hall being well filled. The music for the dance was supplied by Karaitiana’s Orchestra.
