EKETAHUNA
COUNTY AFFAIRS MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL. ("Times-Age” Special.) Mr J. B. Carruthers presided at the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council, all members beingpresent. The clerk reported that all first line chimneys had been completed and that the preparation of the accounts was in hand. The half-yearly report of the health inspector stated that no notifiable infectious diseases had been reported during the period. In view of difficult conditions of living due to earthquakes and floods this freedom from disease was very gratifying, he stated. During the month ended September 30, four alteration jobs and three septic tank installations had been carried out, to the total value of £390. The Public Works Department advised that the application for a subsidy in connection with earthquake and flood damage restoration work on county roads had been approved to the value of £375, being £1 for £l. The Wairarana Primary Production Council wrote stating that the chairman of the Eketahuna Farmers’ Union was experiencing difficulty in forming a production committee in Eketahuna. After a discussion ic was decided that the council constitute itself the Eketahuna Primary Production Council Committee.
