ST. LUKE’S CHURCH MEETING OF LADIES’ GUILD. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance yesterday afternoon at the final meeting of the year of St Luke’s Anglican Church Ladies’ Guild, when Mrs A. York presided over a large attendance of members. Members stood in silence for a few moments in sympathy with Miss Tate, who had recently suffered a bereavement. „ . Mrs York thanked members for their good work and co-operation in the recent “Dutch Fair” which had been a decided success. Mrs Shedden was especially thanked for having arranged the concert. Mrs Blissett was thanked for her third donation and a donation from Mrs H. Dunn was also suitably acknowledged. Mrs Shedden complimented . Mesdames York and Smallwood on the state of the balance-sheet. Mrs York wished all a happy and peaceful Christmas. Mesdames Blissett. and Keedwell each presented the guild with a packet of tea. Afternoon tea was handed round. It was decided that the guild go into recess until February next. Bowling. The unfinished fours competition of last season will be played on Saturday, and a start will be made with the pairs tournament at the weekend. Croquet Season. The official opening of the croquet, green will take place on Saturday afternoon. Town Lands Trust. The monthly meeting of the Greytown Town Lands Trust was held last evening. There were present Messrs F. Dennes (chairman), H. G. Carter, W. H. Day, A. H. York and H. J. Nightingale. The Trust overseer reported in connection with noxious weeds on Trust properties, and tenants are to be notified to remove the same. „, nn . It was decided to subscribe £lOO to the second Liberty Loan. TOWN HALL “BLOOD AND SAND.” One of the most thrilling an impressive pictures ever brought to the screen, “Blood and Sand,” will be presented at the matinee tomorrow afternoon and again in the evening. Shown in beautiful technicolour, the picture provides an outstanding dramatic treat. The leading roles are taken by Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell and Rita Hayworth.
