WEDDING
SIGVERTSEN— DICK. (“Times-Age'’ Special.) A wedding of considerable interest to residents of Eketahuna and the surrounding districts took place in the Presbyterian Church, Eketahuna, on Wednesday evening last, the contracting parties being Avis Campbell, (twin) second daughter of Mr and Mrs James Dick, of Hastwells, and Edgar Griffen, only son of Mr and Mrs J. Sigvertsen, of Hastwells. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked very charming in a slim fitting frock of sort white satin, trimmed with buttons of reai orange blossom. The frock was made with a long train, and a beautiful veil, arranged in halo fashion, was worn. To complete the toilet, a bouquet of roses, stock, carnations and maidenhair fern was carried. Mrs James Searancke, of Hamilton, attended her sister as matron of honour, and another sister, Miss Elva Dick, was bridesmaid. Both were attired in very picturesque frocks of pink satin, and carried bouquets of pink roses, sweet peas and lilies, all to tone with their frocks, and tied with silver ribbon. Silver shoes were also worn, and each wore a gold signet ring, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride's brother, Mr Robert Dick, was best man, and Mr Phil Olsen, a cousin of the bridegroom, was groomsman. The bride was presented with two white satin-covered horse shoes by lan Crosland and Graeme Olsen as she left the church. For going-away, Mrs Sigvertsen chose a royal blue frock, trimmed with white, with which she wore a navy blue coat and hat to match. Her handbag, gloves and shoes were also of navy blue, with white tonings. After the ceremony the guests were entertained in the Hastwells Hall. Mrs Dick, mother of the bride, was attired in a long black, and white floral frock, and Mrs Sigvertsen, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a long saxe blue frock with lace inset. Beautiful bouquets to tone were carried. The usual toasts were honoured. An enjoyable dance followed, the music being supplied by the bride’s cousin, Mr T. Udy, and Miss Sorenson. Mr J. Dick was M.C. The three-tiered wedding cake was made and decorated by the bride’s aunt, Mrs B. Lozell.
In the Hastwells Hall a kitchen tea was tendered to Miss Dick prior to her marriage, and some beautiful gifts were received. Presentations were made to Miss Dick by the Tennis Club and the Hastwells and Kaiparoro Women’s Institutes, of which Miss Dick was a member.
