RAIDS ON BURMA

SUPPLY SHIPS DAMAGED AT AKYAB. MANY FIRES STARTED ON WATERFRONT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, November 12. It is officially stated that R.A.F. Blenheims on Monday night and on Tuesday, in a series of attacks on Akyab, in Burma, damaged two supply ships and started fires on the waterfront and on a jetty. Our escorting fighters destroyed at least two enemy aircraft, which offered strong resistance. Five of our planes are missing. Final figures of enemy casualties during raids on Assam aerodromes at the end of October show that fourteen enemy aircraft were destroyed and at least eighteen damaged.
